We made it though our first week!

We made it though our first week of Second Grade! This week we learned about Doubles, Near Doubles, and Bridge to Ten in Math. In Science, we set up our journals, which we will refer to as "Science Explorations" all year. During Reader's Workshop, the class discussed ideas for what independent reading should look and sound like. We talked about how good readers need to always practice their reading. Writing was a lot of getting to know each other activities. The students wrote a story about their first week in Second Grade. We set up our Writer's Workshop Notebooks and talked about different things we can write about during the year. Many of the students are excited to write about their hobbies, summer vacations, and family traditions.
Everyone seems very eager and excited for everything we will learn in Second Grade!

Today we celebrated Mason's Birthday! Happy Birthday Mason!

Two of our students Asher and Kellen both lost a tooth this week.

Bakar, Teule, Ella, and Brianna show off their Science Safety tips in their Science Journals

Jenna S., Jenna F., Kize, Maeve, and Francisco are in their reading spots they have chosen to read at during independent reading.

Thanks for making it a great week in Second Grade! Have a relaxing and restful weekend. See you Tuesday!
