Merry Christmas

I can't believe we are already half way done with our year, it has flown by. We finished the semester with our Holiday party. Thank you to the parents who were able to come and help. We had fun making a craft and our snowman snack. Enjoy your break and Merry Christmas. 

New Schedule

After the Holiday break, second grade will be following a new schedule in order to better meet our instructional needs.

The schedule changes are outlined below. Please note that our recess and lunch times have changed.

Boosterthon Fun Run

Wow what a fun Friday we had!! The Boosterthon Fun Run was a huge success. The kids did an outstanding job running all of their 35 laps. Thanks to the parents who came out to watch the event. Remember our pledges are due NOVEMBER 14! 

Francisco also represented the second grade Superhero of the week! Congratulations Francisco 

Boosterthon Fun Run

We have had a great time securing pledges for the Boosterthon. There are two days left to seak additional pledges. We need everyone's support! The students hit their first goal with an average of $20 per lap. To celebrate this accomplishment, we had pajama day! We will be running at 9:30 Friday morning. Enjoy our pictures. 

First Nine Weeks

We have made it through our first nine weeks. Here are a few pictures to enjoy. 

Each team constructed bridges to see who's would hold the most weight. 

Our class won the spirit stick! We celebrated by having a "shoes off" day. 

This week in Science we have been talking about sound. We made ducks. Ask your students to share with you about their ducks. 

We have had a sussessful first nine weeks. I'm looking forward to what's to come. Have a great weekend and don't forget it's Red Ribbon week next week!

Wednesday  Team up against Drugs?  Wear your favorite sports team jersey or shirt.

Thursday Don’t let unhealthy choices “sneak” up on you?  Wear sneakers!!!!!

Friday stay drug free!  Wear your school shirt to show your spirit! 

Lately

Last week was career week. We had two guest speakers come and share with us about their careers, Avery's mom and Owen's dad. We were so happy to have them tell us about what they do, they did a great job. I then asked each student what they wanted to be when they grow up.  Enjoy looking though our future job leaders pictures! 

We have celebrated three birthdays the past two weeks. Avery, Kize, and Kellen

Next week is College Week! Here is our schedule for the week with our fun activities:
Monday: Listen to College Spirit Songs as we start our day. Each morning we will play a school song from a different College Band. Discuss with your teachers about where they went to College and ask them about their Teacher College Fact Sheet

Tuesday: Go future Lone Star Rangers (you can wear navy or silver to support your future high school)

Wednesday: Team up for college! Wear your favorite college T-Shirt or colors

Thursday: look to your bright future (wear sunglasses)

Friday: wear your school spirit shirts to show how bright your future is.

PICTURE DAY IS TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 17TH. I will be sending home a flyer on Monday and they need to bring it back Tuesday if they would like to get pictures.

Week Two

We have had a busy week two. Mrs. O'Hearn our school counselor came and taught us about setting goals. We made our soccer balls that have several different goals for this year. 

 We have our first spelling test tomorrow. Today we practiced sorting Consonant Cluster Blends. Each student was with a partner and sorted them into different groups by sounds. Below are some pictures from our sorting activity.

Recess has been very hot this week! Here are a few pictures from today.

Today was Grandparents day, we were so lucky to have some of our grandparents join us for lunch . The kids were so excited to see them!
