Guidance, Shapes, and Readers Theater
Mrs. Miller came and did a guidance lesson with second grade. This was over character traits and superheros. We recognized our character traits that we have are similar to our superheros traits.
In Math we have been learning about 3D shapes so we took some time to make our own 3D shapes out of marshmallows and toothpicks.
We have also been talking about plays during reading so the students had the opportunity to be assigned a play and practice it during WIN time and then perform for us at the end of the week.

Field Trip
We had a great field trip at the Frisco Heritage Museum. We also went to the park to eat lunch and play. At the museum, the students learned about what our city was like in the 1900's.
Writing with 4th Grade
This week we spent some time writing with fourth grade. The students were in partners with a fourth grade student. Together the students wrote a story about what it would be like if they were trapped in a snow globe. It was fun working with the fourth graders because they gave us ideas on how to make our writing even better.

Lately in Second Grade
In Science we have been talking about the different kinds of energy. Heat, Light, and Sound Energy. We sorted cards based on which type of energy they are.
During math we counted coins up to a dollar to determine the value using a cent symbol and dollar sign.
In Social Studies the students learned about maps and map keys, we did an example of drawing our classroom using a map key.
